Obituary of Alma Joyce Kirkpatrick
IN THE CARE OF

Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home

Alma Joyce (Callender) Kirkpatrick passed from this life as we know it peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2024 and went to be with the Lord at the age of 96. “Joyce,” as she was affectionately called by most all who knew her, was born in Stockdale TX on May 5, 1928 to Curtis Wilbur Callender and Alma Bernice (Hobbs) Callender. She was the fourth of eight children, six brothers and one sister. Her life was devoted to her husband, family, and her faith in Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. She was married to Floyd Robert (Bob) Kirkpatrick, for 55 years until his passing in 2002. She was a wonderful mother to three sons, Bobby, Dennis, and John, and a loving grandmother to eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Joyce grew up on a farm in Stockdale and moved to San Antonio to work at a clothing factory. She met Bob, a Marine Veteran of World War II. Following their courtship, they married on June 8, 1947. They moved to Pleasanton, Texas in 1968 and made Pleasanton their home until 1975, and moved back to San Antonio after Bob became the President of the National Bank of Fort Sam Houston.

Joyce enjoyed being a homemaker, sewing, gardening, and cooking for family, friends and for events at her home church, MacArthur Park Church of Christ. She and her husband, Bob, were very giving people contributing to several good causes on behalf of benevolent needs of others, both young and old. She volunteered her time at her children’s schools on field trips, choir events, PTA and Little League. She enjoyed quilting with friends and working at the church’s Care Cottage, a facility and activity that supplied food and clothing along with other multiple resources for those in need.
