Mr. McKinney was a kind and caring person. He was willing to help the choir at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church as the musician during a time when we had no one. Rest in Peace.

We became friends with Mack over 20 years ago. From the very moment that we became acquainted it was instant friendship. We became part of each other’s family. His daughter Alenzia has been my youngest daughter’s best friend for over 10 years. Mack and Pam showed their love and trust in us by allowing Alenzia to live with us for a while to attend school. Their entrusting us with what is most precious to them speaks volumes. This trust was definitely not one sided my daughter Logan has attended numerous events with Mack or Pam along with their lovely daughter. 

Anytime Ron needed a favor from Mack he was there. I can’t recall not one time that Ron or I asked Mack for assistance and he didn’t come through. If Mack called you his friend he demonstrated that in word and deed. He treated you like “family”. 

One of my fondest memories of Mack was New Years 2018. Pam and Mack spent three days with us. We attended a New Years ball together. It was an opportunity to get all decked out in our finest. Let me tell you Mack was looking quite debonair in his tuxedo. That night a cold front blew in...we even had snow flurries. The next morning it was so cold that Ron started a fire in the fireplace. Pam and Ron cooked a big breakfast. Later That evening Mack assisted Ron with dinner (if you can call helping by sitting at breakfast bar and talking Ron’s ears off 🤗). It was the most relaxing and enjoyable couple of days we had experienced in some time. We all were enjoying our empty nest. 

Mack was one of the best men that I knew and he loved his family with all of his heart. 

Sleep for now my brother...you will be missed...until we meet again!

It is with sadness to  receive notice about our beloved Mack.  Our hearts are "heavy" for your loss.  

I got my first start in the music business singing with different bands.  All members of those bands have passed way.  From what I had learned from those incredible musicians and from my experience in business, I started my band Breezin' with members including Alvin Hodge on bass, James Hill on Saxophone, Leo Bennett on Trumpet, Stan Dickerson on Drums and Alonzo "Mack" McKinney on piano/keyboard.  All band members mentioned above have passed away; as Mack is the last member to expire.  

He was so kind and the 40 years we have known each other, we never had a disagreement of any kind.  Who can say that!!!  But it is true.  In fact, all members of the band had utmost respect for each other and as a female  band leader, they were protective of me at all times.  We had many laughs and wonderful times.

Mack and I spoke often and he came to our performances to support the band and on a couple of occasions sat in on piano.  I am so grateful that I followed "my spirit," i.e. , a sudden urge to call him 72 hours before his passing.  There was no way to know that we were saying goodbye.  His speaking voice was soft & low and he promised me that he would continue fighting his illness for a full recovery.  He updated me on his mother's health and talked about his family whom he truly loved.
Rest in Peace our dear friend, you are no longer in pain.  Again, Wyatt and I send our heartfelt condolences to the McKinney family.  We love you all.

My condolences to the McKinney family. I first met Alonzo when he performed with Beverly Houston and Breezin.  I would run into him at various places and we would reminisce about the shows. He will be missed.

Pamela and Mac were great friends to my family.  We met in college and have many wonderful memories with them, such as their wedding, sharing New Year's day with them at her mother's home for many years and the birth of Alenzia.  Mac was a gentle soul, with a great laugh and uplifting smile.  You will be missed and RIP.❤️

Sincerest condolences to Mack’s family and friends. While I mourn the loss of my dear friend, I find joy in knowing there are others rejoicing to meet him behind the veil.  I pray we are  comforted knowing those we love and lose are always connected to us by heartstrings into infinity.  Praying our memories with Mack sustain us through this sad time and that God’s Healing Hands be upon us all providing comfort, understanding and peace.

Alonso and I were teammates on the football team at Central Catholic High School. He had an infectious smile and attitude that always brightened up the room.  I called him my twin brother because of that bond we formed during that time. You will be missed my twin brother. Peace to you and your family. 

TO GOD BE THE GLORY🙏🏽  The entire Mckinney Family was like blood Military family to us.  (My parents now in heaven 🙏🏽Coleman & Della Burns) Our families met in Okinawa, Japan  in 1970 and stayed friends.  Mack was like an older brother we never had, very talented and caring person.  He will be missed by those who loved him.  Prayers and condolences for the family🙏🏽

Mac was my friend. I was a fan of him and he was a fan of mine. His smile, his attitude, his demeanor and his friendship will never be forgotten. The last thing he did for me was help me figure out a tough situation. So sorry to hear of his passing. Rest In Power my brother.

Alonzo and Pam I was at  the most beautiful wedding Austin, Texas has ever hosted!! I remember that entrance of the most beautiful bride "Miss Texas " Life for this couple has been a beautiful journey . Alenzia brought joy they could never have imagined. I will always remember the kind and gentle person he was.  Rest in peace 🙏🙏🙏

I am saddened to hear of this loss. Alonzo was kind of  like a big brother; particularly, in my younger years.  My condolences to Pam (Pamela) and the entire family. Praying God comforts and keeps you.
