Amelia Elisa Carter, daughter of Guadalupe and Genoveva Sustayta, born in Beeville, Texas, on March, 1931, died on February 13, 2014, in San Antonio, TX, after a year-long battle with cancer. She is survived by her children, Tamela Carter, San Antonio, TX; Eric Carter (Russell Freesland), Los Angeles, CA; her step-children James Carter (Kay), Ft. Wayne, IN; Ronald Carter, Ft. Wayne, IN; Robert Carter, Houston, TX; and step-grandchildren Kim, Bennett, and Lee.
Amelia was a lover of vintage clothing and jewelry. However, her greatest love was for her family. Everyone who entered her home was made to feel loved and nurtured, as if they were her children. She loved to entertain.
Funeral services are at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, Friday, February 21, 2014, at 10 a.m. She will be interred at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Floyd Carter, who passed away March 15, 1998. While flowers are gladly welcomed, donations in memory of Amelia Carter are also encouraged to the American Cancer Society.
