

Amelia was born on September 19, 1935, in Pearsall, Texas. She grew up with her mother Jovita and stepfather Valentin Longoria and her siblings in Pearsall. She and Cruz Bueno Herrera married in 1953 and were 53 years until his passing in 2006. She and Cruz built their lives and their family in San Antonio. Together they had eight children. She and Cruz spent many years creating and selling ceramic pieces at fairs and craft shows. She was also an avid sewer/seamstress.
Amelia was a mother, housewife, grandmother, and great grandmother that loved bingo and playing the piano and guitar along with knitting and crocheting.
Amelia was preceded in death by her husband; her granddaughter Esmeralda “Emmy” Herrera; her mother; stepfather; grandparents, her sister Alicia; a brother David Del Toro and another sister Alicia Longoria; and her sister Maria Chavana.
Amelia is survived by her children, of San Antonio, Cruz O. Herrera, Jr (partner Gregory); Leonard Herrera (Christina); Gilda Arrauza; Louie (Mary), Kay Garza; Richard “Tiny” Herrera (Mary); David Herrera; and Roland Herrera (husband Rick) of North Carolina. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 from 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm at Trevino Funeral Home located at 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, Texas 78237.
Our doors will open at 8:30 am on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 with Funeral Mass at 11:30 am at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church located at 1147 Cupples Rd., San Antonio, TX 78226.
Burial will follow at San Fernando Cemetery 3 located at 1735 Cupples Rd. San Antonio, TX 78226.
