Amelia Barrios Mendoza

Amelia B. Mendoza, 69 years old, passed away peacefully in the arms of her beloved Husband, Cruz A. Mendoza Sr., on Wednesday November 3, 2021. She was born November 2, 1952 in Idalou, Texas to Jose Barrios Sr. and Maria L. Barrios.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Maria Barrios.

She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Cruz A. Mendoza Sr.; her brother, Jose Barrios Jr.; her sisters, Maria Hernandez, Maria Esquivel and Olivia Flores; her children, Cruz Mendoza Jr and wife Petra, Geneve Olguin and husband Andrew, Gilbert Hernandez and wife Lucy, Lisa Mendoza, Cruz Mendoza III and wife Felicia, Michael Mendoza and wife Gabriela, Jason Mendoza, Ilyssa Mendoza and husband Harold, and Marissa Mendoza and husband Jesus; her grandchildren, Jagger Hernandez and wife Yadhira, Allison Gutierrez, Gavin Olguin, Matthew Olguin, Aaron Olguin, Mercedes Castillo and Tristan Castillo; her great-grandchildren, Xavier, Mallory, Jason Jr., Alexander, Julian, Arian, Rayana, Leland, Harold IV, Jesus V, Mileena, Matthew, Curtis and Emilia; her special nephews, Pedro Hernandez and wife Belinda, Albert Hernandez and wife Lydia, and Andrew Barrios; her special niece, Epi Hernandez; and her numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Amelia worked for Edgewood School District for 27 years and retired in 2019. She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1972. She loved her work and coworkers, her Alma Mater and supporting them until her passing. Amelia was loved by many, and she loved many in return. She was a woman of God and will be dearly missed by everyone that knew and loved her.

The family will be receiving friends for the Visitation at Trevino Funeral Home - 226 Cupples Road 78237 - on Monday, November 15 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 PM. On Tuesday, November 16, a Funeral Procession will depart at 9:30 AM and arrive at St. Jude Catholic Church - 130 S. San Augustine Avenue 78237 - for a Mass at 10:00 AM. The burial will follow at San Fernando Cemetery III - 1735 Cupples Road 78226.
