

Anastacio Juarez completed his Divine journey on earth on January 1, 2014 at age 95. He was born in Staples TX after his parents immigrated to the US during the Mexican Revolution. In 1942, when he was a young farmhand, Anastacio was drafted into the US Army during World War II. He served in the 177th Signal Repair Company as the Captain’s chauffeur and met Generals Patton, Bradley and Eisenhower. Mr. Juarez earned the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Medal. After his safe return, Anastacio married the love of his life, Rafaela, in 1946. They became life long residents of San Antonio where Mr. Juarez was a Civil Servant at Kelly Air Force Base for 33 years. Anastacio and Rafaela’s greatest life’s work has been their family and trust in God. Through prayers, tireless efforts and dedication, all eight of their children obtained a college and postgraduate education. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rafaela N. Juarez; son, Gilbert Juarez; parents Juan and Susana Juarez; brothers, Juan, Dario, Esequiel, and Jose Juarez. He is survived by his children, Mary Alice Ledesma (Alejandro+), Dr. Susana Juarez Leal (David), Josephine Hernandez (Albert), Ramon Juarez (Elva), Rosemary Fuentes (Oscar+), Stella Juarez and Eduardo Juarez, Esq.; daughter in law, Sandra; grandchildren, Andrea, Monica, Joaquin, Albert, Laura, Paul, Cristina, Michael, Jessica, Gilbert, Gabriel, Christopher, Juan, Luis, Miguel and Sarah; 11 great grandchildren (the youngest, Maximo, was born Jan. 1, 2014); siblings, Jovita Ramirez and Porfirio Juarez. A devout Roman Catholic, Anastacio was an active parishioner for 64 years at Christ the King Catholic Church, where he served as President of the Holy Name Society and as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. In 2012, the Archbishop awarded Mr. Juarez the Parish Lumen Gentium Award for his deep understanding and living manifestation of Catholic spiritual tradition. Through the church parish, Mr. Juarez was also an active member of Communities Organized for Public Service (COPS) at its founding. Visitation will begin 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd. A rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Christ the King Church, 2623 Perez Street. A mass will be celebrated 9:00 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 at Christ the King Church. Interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. The family is sincerely grateful to Dr. Karl Hempel and his staff.
