Andres Perez Delgado passed, age 80, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025 at his residence in San Antonio, Texas. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Born April 12, 1945 to Andres Delgado Sr and Minerva Perez in La Pryor, Texas.
One of his greatest accomplishments was the honor of serving his country as a Vietnam War Combat Infantryman. Andres was drafted into the United States Army, at the age of twenty-two. He served his country during the Vietnam War between 1967 to 1969. He was enlisted as a Private E-1 Infantry man. He fought bravely with courage and grit. Thereafter, he was honorably discharged as an E-3 earning many awards; the Vietnam Service Medal, two Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge where he was recognized as Rifle Sharp Shooter, the Purple Heart Medal for wounds he received in Action after being wounded in battle on May 12, 1968. He was a jungle warrior and a tunnel rat. He was a true warrior at heart. Quietly carrying the weight of war with dignity, strength and pride.
After returning home, he met and married the love of his life, Evangelina Ruiz Delgado; they have been married for 54 years
He is survived by his wife Evangelina “Miki” Ruiz Delgado, His four children, Lisa Devora, Juan Carlos Delgado, Andres Delgado III, and Ramiro Joaquin Delgado. He has 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Sisters Norma (Ralph) Bouillerce, Minerva Jones and brother Jesus Delgado.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Andres Delgado Sr. and Minerva Perez; his beloved grandson, Andres Delgado IV, great granddaughter Mariana Sakura Hashimoto and his sister Senaida “Sandy” Cyprian and brother-in-law Medford Jones.
Andres was a devoted family man, a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. Andres was a quiet man, yet his presence was very powerful. He was a man of faith, honor, and unwavering strength. He was emotionally and mentally strong. He was disciplined, yet gentle and caring. Giving his grandchildren and great grandchildren $1.00 for every year according to their age. He led through action, staying true to his family and values. He leaves behind a legacy not just written on medals or through titles, but in the lives of those he nurtured. He was a SOLDIER, a PATRIARCH, a HERO! He was, and will always be, the HEART of our family.

A visitation for Andres will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 8:00 AM until 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd, San Antonio, TX 78211. He will have his VFW Post 9186 last call at 7:00 PM with a rosary to follow. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St Michael Catholic Church, 418 Indiana St, San Antonio, TX 78210 with interment to follow with military honors at 1:15 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209. Reception to follow at 2:30PM at VFW Post 9186, 650 VFW Blvd. San Antonio TX 78223.
