

Andrew William Spillman, age 99 of San Antonio, died Friday, December 16, 2016. Mr. Spillman was a member of the 1st graduating class of Jefferson High School. He attended Shriner College and UT of Austin, but had to leave during the Depression. He worked for Trustcon Steel Company in Ohio for many years. He then moved to El Paso to work for Robert E. McKee Construction Company, where he and his crew were sent to Los Alamos, NM to build the buildings that housed the Atom Bomb.
Afterwards he started his own construction business in El Paso until he retired. He was Past President of American General Construction Association, Rotary Club member, a member of St. Clements Episcopal Church, where he was active in the Vestry and Chairman of the building committee. He was Superintendent of the Sunday School and member of the Board of Trustee of the St. Clements Episcopal Parrish School. When not playing golf, he was riding his horses, and was part of the El Paso Sheriff's Posse for many years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Besse; second wife, Eugenia; children, Andrew William Spillman, Jr and David E. Spillman.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Spillman; his children, Beverly Bailey (Jack), Jerry Boyer, and Steve Spillman; grandchildren, Catherine, Bailey (Dan), Kimberly Watkins (Jim), Christy Guinan (Rick), Christopher Bailey (Jamie), Mark Cloud (Nora), Devon Cloud (Laura), Valerie Spillman, Scott Spillman (Victoria); eight great grandchildren.
