Before immigrating to the United States in 1961 during the Cuban Revolution, Angela studied at the University of Havana pursuing a doctorate in philosophy. When the university closed because of the Revolution, she left her homeland for San Antonio. Upon arriving here, she enrolled in Our Lady of the Lake University earning a Bachelor's in education and followed that with a Master's in education at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She used her degrees in a lifelong career with the Edgewood Independent School District teaching at a number of schools, mostly in early primary school grades. Never having married, Angela did not have any children of her own, but loved her sisters' children so and was often very generous whenever a family member was in need.
Angela is preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Angela Quesada de Fernandez, and her brother-in-law, Carlos Elizondo Sanchez. She is survived by her sisters, Dolores (Lolita) Fernandez Sanchez and Cristina Fernandez Beato and husband Jorge; her very close first cousin, Ernesto Silva and wife Patricia; her niece, Cristina Sanchez Hodde and husband William; and nephews, Carlos Rafael Sanchez and Virgilio Rafael Beato and wife Heather; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
The family would like to thank Anna Torres, attorney at law, for her care and concern for Angela in the last few years of her life.
