

Angela G. Waits passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the age of 85 years, 11 months. Angela was born in Matawan, NJ on June 22, 1925 and spent most of her life in volunteer service to others through organizations including more than 50 yrs with The American Red Cross & Disaster Services, The Military Order of Purple Hearts Ladies Auxiliary, St. John Neumann Catholic Church and St. Andrews Senior Center of San Antonio. Her dedication to helping others brought her two Volunteer of the Year awards from the Red Cross, as well as the 2010-2011 Volunteer of the Year award from the MOPH Ladies Auxiliary. Her strong spirit, sense of honor, warm heartedness and compassion will live on in the hearts of the thousands of people she touched throughout her life and in her family forever. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Command Sergeant Major Richard W. Waits; her parents, Pasquale and Antoinette Giugliano of Matawan, NJ; two brothers, Anthony, Sr. and John Giugliano of Matawan, NJ; two sisters, Minnie Giugliano Nunziato and Mary Giugliano Lewis. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Ann Waits and son-in-law William E. Beasley, Jr. of Corpus Christi, TX, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011, 10:00a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 6680 Crestway Drive, San Antonio, TX 78239. Interment will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Military Order of Purple Heart and Ladies Auxiliary, The American Red Cross Disaster Services, The American Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice.
