

Angelina E. Garza entered into eternal rest on September 22, 2015. She was born on September 23, 1944. Angelina is preceded in death by her parents Apolonio and Aurora E. Garza and foster son David Arzola. She’s survived by her niece Teresa Escamilla and loving pets, Patches, Nana, Socks, Calico, and Ojitos. She graduated from Our Lady of the Lake University and received her Master’s Degree in Bilingual Education at UTSA.
She began her teaching career at St. Henry’s Catholic School and continued at Bonham Academy serving the youth in San Antonio for 49 years.
As an avid member of C.O.P.S., Angie was instrumental in bringing many community projects to the West Side of San Antonio. Her greatest accomplishments were the Fr. Albert Benavides Learning Center, the construction of Hwy.151, proper drainage/sidewalks and the renovation of Las Palmas shopping center.
Angie was awarded “Mujeres de Mujeres” and the Texas State Bilingual teacher of the Year.
Angie was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel, where she was a member of the Altar Society, Las Hijas de Maria and acting DRE for the catechism program.
Angie will be deeply missed by her family, friends and former students.
Visitation will begin on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home Monday, September 28, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church with interment to follow in San Fernando Cemetery II.
