Anita Martinez Barcenas

Anita Martinez Barcenas, born on February 20, 1953, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 71. Anita was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

Anita lived her life with warmth and joy, always finding happiness in the simple pleasures. She enjoyed shopping, listening to her favorite music, dancing, and spending time caring for her cherished grandchildren. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and she devoted time each day to reading the Bible and praying. She also had a love for coffee, especially from McDonald’s and Starbucks, where she could savor a warm cup.

Anita is preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence Barcenas; her parents, Luis Martinez and Elida Martinez; her brothers, Felix Martinez and Luis Martinez Jr.; and her grandchild, Phillip de Jesus Vyas.

She is survived by her devoted children: Arti Vyas, Krupa Steele, Krishna Magdaleno (Christopher), Amar Vyas, , Jose J. Nieves, and Lawrence Barcenas Jr. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Joe Olveda, Mark Olveda, Layla Vyas, Summer Vyas, Arti Vyas Jr., Lexi Vyas, Xavier Vyas, Raul Reyna III, Alex Reyna, Aries Reyna, Yana Anita Magdaleno, Marciano Lorenzo Magdaleno, Evan Vyas, Jayden Vyas, Amaya Vyas, Amani Vyas, Joseph Steele Jr., Gavin Steele, and Lexi Steele. Anita will also be missed by her siblings: Rosa Martinez, Sylvia Gutierrez, Mario Martinez, Estella Martinez, Andrew Martinez, Alex Martinez, and Eloy Martinez, along with countless family members and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m., with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. On Monday, November 25, 2024, a Chapel Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at 11:30 am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX 78209.

Anita’s love, faith, and unwavering support for her family will be remembered fondly. May she rest in peace, reunited with her loved ones who went before her.
