Anita Pratt, affectionately known as “Annie”, was surrounded by her children and grandchildren by her side as she peacefully passed away to be with her Lord and Savior on April 20, 2024. Annie was born Anita Moreno to Jesus and Josefina Moreno on August 13, 1929 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Pratt, whom she met at a dance in 1951 and her daughter Shirley Ann Lamille and are now all continuing their dance together.
Annie and Gilbert were married on July 30, 1952 and had five children, Shirley Ann, Gilbert Andrew Jr., Lawrence Arthur, Mark Anthony (wife Lorna), and Richard Alan (wife Cindy) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She lived the cliché of “Celebrating life to the fullest”. Her travels took her to Alaska, Greece, Las Vegas, Israel, Ireland, Las Vegas, Paris, England, and … Las Vegas; “Que padre Vegas”. In 2010 she also traveled to Miami to see Super Bowl XLIV. After Gilbert’s passing, she continued her travels to the Dominican Republic with a few of her friends and, of course, Las Vegas.
She belonged to several social clubs developing countless life-long friendships and helped organize fundraising dances and parties benefitting various non-profit organizations. She and Gilbert served as President of Los Sembradores de Amistad in 1976. Above all, she thoroughly enjoyed a simple celebration of a birthday party or a holiday with the family. Family was extremely important in her life and cherished those moments. She was once overheard telling Gilbert, “We’ve had a great life together”. That “great life” was rooted in her faith and the deep love for her family.
She loved animals and rarely lived without a dog by her side. She never met an animal she didn’t like. Her favorite smell . . . "a puppy’s breath".
She will always be remembered as the superglue in the family who kept everyone together. She will be forever missed by all those who loved her and who must now carry-on her torch of life’s passion. “Pos, ay vamos.”
