Tatty attended The University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She was a devoted mother, wife, friend to many, and a sharp-witted card shark reaching the coveted status "Life Master" bridge player. Tatty was an Order of the Alamo Duchess, Order Princess and a German Club Debutante. She was a devout member of Christ Episcopal Church, Battle of Flowers Association, and the Alamo Heights - Terrell Hills Garden Club. She was also a member of the San Antonio Country Club and the Argyle. She was a benefactor of many causes including but not limited to, the Charity Ball Association and the San Antonio Junior League. She came from a long line of distinguished senior military officers; the Lewis family has been fighting America's battles since 1776. She was preceded in death by her father, Brigadier General Thomas Edward Lewis, who served as Commanding General at Ft. Sam Houston, and her mother Lucille Witherspoon Lewis. Tatty is survived by her husband, Middleton S. English, son, Lloyd Whitfield Bailey of Gainesville, Fl., grandchildren, Jack Lewis Bailey and Julianna Bailey, daughters, Linda Bailey Powers (Andrew) of Tampa Fl, and Joan Bailey Cole (Kyle) of San Antonio, sister, Joan Lewis Moore (Gordon) of Brenham, Tx, nephew, Sealy Moore of Houston, Tx, Alison English Lashley (Brian) of Ashville, N.C., and Eloise English Campbell (Corey), of Chico, CA.
