

Ann Tarr Kanter was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 15, 1928. She married Harry Louis Kanter and moved to San Antonio, Texas. She is survived by daughters, Carolyn Kanter of Dallas, Texas and Laura Berry (Jim) of Chicago, Illinois and son David J. Kanter of San Antonio. She is also survived by grandsons, Kyle Berry and Sean Berry both of Chicago, Illinois. Ann was well known for her cooking skills and was the chairperson who accomplished the publishing of the “Love and Best Dishes” Kosher Cookbook for her congregation, Agudas Achim Synagogue of San Antonio, Texas.
She was a genuinely generous person, giving her time and resources over many years and served in many organizations, including Hadassah, Agudas Achim Sisterhood, Bluebird Auxiliary (Santa Rosa Hospital), and many others. She helped many people often anonymously.
Ann was also a valuable resource to her many life insurance and health insurance clients. She was an avid MahJongh player every week at the Jewish Community Center. Throughout her life she set an example for her children to follow.
