

Ann was born October 27, 1920 in Hampton, Virginia.
She married Charles Irvin Matthews in 1938. They were married almost 60 years when Charles passed away seven years ago. They had four sons and traveled around the United States and several countries via the Air Force.
The family was charter members of the English-speaking Tokyo Baptist Church that helped birth over seventy similar churches around the world, and world-wide evangelism through their pastor, Dub Jackson.
While stationed in San Antonio, Ann devoted many hours of service to the First Baptist Church Community Benevolent Ministries, and was Volunteer of the Year in 1982.
Ann will live forever in our hearts.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; sister, Medra Goodwin; and granddaughter, Carol Matthews.
She is survived by sons, Charles I. Matthews, Jr. and wife Earlene, Ray Matthews and wife Gloria, Ron Matthews, Steve Matthews and wife Shirley; grandchildren, Janet Trejo and husband John, Brooke and Brian Matthews of California, Tim and Paul Matthews of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Kimberley Peak and husband Todd of Alvarado, Texas; and many great-grandchildren.
