Ann Elizabeth Ruiz

Ann Elizabeth Brown Ruiz, age 84, of Long Beach, MS and San Antonio, TX passed away peacefully on Sunday October 5, 2025. Up until the end Ann maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, appreciation of beauty, love of family and friends, and expressed gratitude for her long life. Her life can be captured by the five “F” words: Faith, Family, Friends, Food, and Flowers.

Ann was born on Apr 28, 1941, in Nashville TN to her parents Wilson Brown and Jodie Edgin. She was a military wife for 21 years supporting her husband’s career and raising her family. She was especially proud to have been a den mother in the early years of her children. After the military, Ann spent the next 30 years working as Food Manager for different elementary schools in the San Antonio ISD and retired in 2001. She was an active member of Cornerstone Church of San Antonio, where she was involved in VBS and Angel Tree.

Mrs. Ruiz was preceded in death by her parents Wilson Brown and Jodie Edgin and 2 siblings. She is survived by her husband of 64 years Angel Antonio Ruiz; three children John Anthony Ruiz (Shelley), Cynthia Lynn Wells (Jay), Janet Phillips (Clayton); 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 5 siblings (3 brothers & 2 sisters). Pallbearers will be Joshua Ruiz, Joseph Ruiz, Jesse Ruiz, Parker Schroeder, Cody Seider, and Jay Wells.

Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio TX 78218. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Monday 27 October 2025. Funeral service will be at 11:30 AM 28 October 2025 with interment at Ft Sam National Cemetery Shelter #2 at 1:15 PM.
