Ann Sparkman was born in Austin, TX on May 23, 1931, to parents of Wade and Charlotte Mary Lewis. Ann passed away on November 25, 2023 from complications of dementia. She graduated from Ursuline Academy with very dear friendships among many of her classmates.
She has been a resident at the Village of the Incarnate Word for 16 years. We are so appreciative and thankful for the staff and caregivers at The Village for their outstanding care of our mother. She was preceded in death by her husband James Sumner Sparkman. She is survived by her daughters Nanci Smith, Terri Chism, Barbara Janssen and Linda Reid; Grandchildren Trey Smith, Kyle Smith, Ryan Chism, Sarah Junker, Logan Chism, Forrest Janssen, Kristen Janssen, Chris Reid and Courtney Reid; great grandchildren Hailey, Reese, Landry, John, James, Luke, Susan, Henry, Peter, Iggy, Paddy, Auggie, Constance, Charlotte, Caden, and Parker.
Mom's life was filled with faith, love and mostly laughter. She volunteered at Villa Rosa Hospital, Methodist Hospital, Stone Oak Methodist, St. Monica's Guild and Holy Spirit Altar Society. "What can I do to help" was always her manner with family, friends and lots of strangers.
Mom's C.R.A.F.T. Group (wink wink) provided so much laughter, friendship and travel. She was always ready to go anywhere, anytime. She was an avid bridge and mahjong player and loved gambling. But her favorite place by far was the river house. That was heaven on earth for her.
It happened all the time family, friends and acquaintances would ask "How is your mom? I really love your mom". That is the best testament to her charitable life. Mom was wise, loved life, loved laughter, and most of all loved God and she taught those gifts to us by how she lived. Love and kisses Mom! Rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon you.
