Anna Grace Cram, born February 21, 1927 in Des Moines, Iowa, passed away confidently and peacefully on March 31, 2012 in San Antonio, Texas. Anna was the sixth of seven children born to Lucy Woolsey and Frank Cram. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. Surviving are five nephews, a niece and their families: Gary Cram (San Antonio, Texas), Esther Hastings Miller (Woodstock, Virginia), David Hastings (Las Cruces, New Mexico), Ron McVey, Doug McVey, and Brad McVey (Des Moines, Iowa).
Except for a year in which she attended college in Southern California, Anna lived in Des Moines until 1985 when she moved to San Antonio. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone in Des Moines for over thirty years. An inveterate traveler, Anna visited every state and many European countries. Her love of travel prompted her to work at several jobs after retirement. Anna taught scores of children to play piano, organ, and accordion and served as organist for several churches she attended over the years. Her repertoire expanded through church music, classics, and the favorites of her generation. She played for many special occasions, including three generations of weddings in her own family. While it was her music that often drew folks to Anna, it was her gentle spirit and her love of family and friends that endeared her to all.
