

In 1966 Anna graduated from Roy Miller High School, Corpus Christi. Anna joined the Army in 1973 and was a member of the last graduating Class of the Woman's Army Corps.
She served and retired as a MSG from the US Army and was a LVN for 16 years. She was a member of the American Legion Post No. 0592. Anna was a supporter of the Relay for Life, Breast Cancer Awareness and the National Police and Trooper Association.
Passionate in her works for continued medical research of HIV/Aids treatment for Women and Children and diabetes; Anna was a fixture of the San Antonio, BAMC medical community.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ignacio and Teresa Trevino Mallett; her grandparents, Jose C. and Magdalena Mallett and Eulogio and Inez Alba Trevino. Anna Maria is survived by her sons: SFC Joe Richard Benavides and wife, Jessica; and David Benavides and his fiance, Monica Prado; grandchildren: Matthew Alexander Benavides, Michael Evan Benavides and Phillip Anthony DuRousseau Jr.; sisters: Teresa Mallett Benavides and husband, Richard; and Dora Mallett; brother, Ignacio "Buddy" Mallett and wife, Christine; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She touched and saved many lives, and taught thousands more over the course of her 40 year nursing career ~ "Care with Compassion".
Visitation will be on Sunday, August 8th from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
