

Ann was born to Tommy and Anna (Vineyard) Tinnell in Owensboro, Kentucky. She spent her childhood there until she left for college at Murray State University. After graduation, Ann moved to Texas and started her career at San Antonio Independent School District. She taught English at Jeremiah Rhodes Junior High for five years and followed that with twenty years at Sidney Lanier High School. She served as head librarian during her final six years at Lanier. Shortly after starting at Lanier, Ann met Luis Vargas to whom she was married to for forty-four wonderful years. After retiring from education, she dedicated herself to becoming a master gardener and sharing her knowledge with others.
Ann was an incredible wife, a caring sister and sister-in-law, a loving aunt, and a doting grandaunt. Her family was the center of her world, and she never missed an opportunity to celebrate every milestone in their lives. She leaves behind cherished memories and love, survived by her devoted husband Luis; her brother Nicholas Tinnell (Lisa) of Owensboro, Kentucky; her sister-in-law Ofelia Dávila (†Hector), nephew, Robert Dávila (Michele Fischer); niece, Patricia Dávila (Gregorio Flores III); her adoring grandnieces and grandnephew, Josh and Olivia Dávila and Arianna, Catarina and Juliana Flores; and many cousins and loving friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Anna (Vineyard) Tinnell.
Her rosary will take place on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at 6:00PM. A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 10:30AM. Both will be held at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park North.
