The last time I saw Ann was the summer of 2007. She and Palmer took my family out for a hamburger..she was a bundle of energy...her youthful demeanor belied her chronological age. She was a great friend to my family, a source of comfort when my mother, Ruth, was diagnosed with cancer. The warmth and love she exuded, her compassion and zest for life will be sorely missed. Rest peacefully dear Ann, may God bless you and your family.

Dear Oma, I wasn't physically there to celebrate your journey to Heaven but my spirit was as it has always been. Life is hard to imagine without being able to pick up the phone and hear your voice on the other end. Now that you are gone, I realize that I should have picked up the phone more often. I know that you were ready to go on to the "next life" and for that reason, I don't feel so sad. But still, it is hard. You were my mother when mine wasn't around and sometimes when she was. You tried so hard to fill a void that you couldn't possibly fill and for that I am forever grateful. You gave me the love and nurturing I so desperately needed. When everyone else seemed to put me down, you always tried to bring me up. I have made many mistakes and will probably continue to make more. But even so, you never made me feel like a failure. You have always been so concerned with looking after me that I sometimes wonder if you ever stopped to think about yourself. Even during your illness I found myself calling you to vent, for advice and even for help. And like the selfless person you are, you would listen to my frustrations, offer a solution and even lend a helping hand. Now I look back and wonder if I did enough to return the favor. Yes we spoke on many occasions and I would ask how you were feeling. We would talk about the sickness and the pain you were experiencing. We reminisced and laughed about good times and cried about bad times - especially your sickness. But I should have come to see you and care for you before you left this earth. However, circumstances did not allow for me to do so. I hope you understand. Please look down from above and protect me. I need your guidance now more than ever. I remember the good times - being a young girl and taking trips to the beach with you, Opa and Vicki, ?helping? you with your work at Dr. Bumble Bee?s office, taking Daisy and mischievous Robby for walks around the neighborhood, going with you to make deliveries for Meals on Wheels, helping you clean Uncle Paul and Gina?s house, watering the plants at Uncle Paul?s restaurant, planting flowers and shrubs in the garden, going to the movies, going to Fiesta Texas, learning how to swim, studying for my confirmation, attempting to learn to play the piano, volunteering at the church, pretending to drive while the cars were parked in the garage, using your and Opa?s old office supplies to run a make believe business, making t-shirts and visors, learning to sew and knit, falling asleep in your bed while watching Golden Girls, and of course going to church. I also remember the bad times ? when Meemaw died and you let me cry hysterically on your shoulder, when I moved to Virginia to live with Mom and things weren?t going well, and recently when I questioned my place in life and where I belong. Oma, you were an angel on earth and now in Heaven. Your honesty, compassion and selflessness will never be forgotten. I am so glad to have had the honor to be your granddaughter. Thank you for all that you have done for me. It?s too late to repay you in the way you deserve, but I promise to keep the promises I made to you before you left. Now that the pain is gone, you can finally rest in peace. I love you, forever and ever. Love, Lauren

I sat next to Anne when we were both in the choir at Reconciliation Episcopal Church. She was always so upbeat and a genuinely nice person. We had wonderful times filled with singing and laughter and the Holy Spirit. I was saddened to hear of her passing and know that she will be greatly missed by all her family and many friends.

Am sorry I could not attend Anne's memorial service as I am in bed with the flu.. However; I know she is singing with the Angel Choir in Heaven.

P.K. - I was Boyd and Bob R. secretary then became Branch Manager in Oklahoma. I remember you and Anne very well as you came to Atlanta for many functions and I got to go to Huntsville a few times and dinner with Anne and your old PT1 Bunch...Al Threlfall became District Manager in OKC and I worked with him... Anne was a lovely person and my heart goes out to you. If you have any desire to be with your old HP buds..they get together alot. Email me and I will help get u started.
