Jeanie was born June 3, 1933 to Moses Moody and Dollie Lampkin in Louisville, MS. Her mother Dollie Lampkin died when she was 6 years old and she lived with relatives until her oldest brother Prentis Moody accepted her in his home until she graduated high school.
After graduating high school, she moved to Mobile, AL and found a job at Mercantile Natl Bank. She met and fell in love with her future husband, Malcolm J. Graham Sr. They married on Oct 17, 1954 and had a wonderful life in Mobile with Malcolm and her 2 sons Malcolm Jr. and Kenneth along with close family and friends.
In 1968, Brookley AFB closed and they made the difficult decision to relocate to San Antonio, TX. The decision was very tough due to the close relationships with family and friends. Jeanie soon found a job at Kelly AFB and her and Malcolm commuted to work for over 28 years.
Jeanie was a devoted wife to Malcolm throughout their 63 years of marriage. After Malcolm’s passing, she turned her passion to keeping up with her gardening. After a particularly difficult day, a neighbor remarked, “Jeanie you cannot be Martha Stewart every day.” Most days you would see her in the front yard trimming her vines and sweeping away “those pesky leaves” that would fall on her porch and driveway.
She is predeceased in death by her parents; husband, Malcolm; brothers, Dan and Prentis Moody; and her sister, Christine Rushing.
Jeanie is survived by her sons, Malcolm Graham Jr. of Austin TX. and Kenneth Graham (Sandra) of San Antonio TX,; grandchildren, Kendra M. Hudgins (Kyle) of Aubrey TX. and Derek A. Graham of San Antonio TX.; and other relatives in Georgia, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
Thank you to her caregivers, Nora and Lena, for taking excellent care of our mom.
