There is a joyful reunion going on in heaven with those who predecease Annie: husband of 65 years, Freddie Junior, mother - Nora Gressett Embrey, father - A.C. Embrey, and 5 siblings.
Annie grew up in Chunky, Mississippi as one of 7 children. In March of 1953, she met Fred in Belleville, Illinois, and six months later, on September 5th, they were married in Meridian, Mississippi. For the first 20 years of their marriage, Fred continued his service to the country and Merle got busy raising four boys. During those years, Fred and Annie, along with their growing family lived in multiple locations including Belleville, Illinois, San Antonio, Texas, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the Philippines, and Anchorage, Alaska.
After retiring in San Antonio in 1974, Annie and Fred enjoyed many years traveling in their motor home. They visited locations across the United States, always finding time to visit family in Annie’s hometown of Chunky, Fred’s hometown of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, or wherever they needed to go to see their children and grandchildren. Annie enjoyed having her grandchildren in her home for weeks during the summers, where she would spend time with them playing games and cards, crafting, canning, baking and gardening.
Annie was known for being a strong woman, and that strength was shown in the fierce way that she loved her family. She was patient, loveable, courageous and independent. Annie will be missed greatly by her family and all those who loved her.
The family will receive friends beginning at noon on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Porter Loring Mortuary.
