

Annie Beatrice Everett Tomlin, age 102, passed away February 24th in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Ann was born in Rising Star, Texas on May 19th, 1914, the sixth of seven children. Near the close of World War I, her father and mother, Frank C. Everett Mamie Cox Everett bought a small farm near a little community known as Doodleville. Annie attended schools in the area including Jewett and Marquez High School where she was a member of the Yellow Jacket Pep Squad. Upon leaving school, she moved to San Antonio where she met and married Arthur (Tommy) Tomlin on October 31, 1942.
Their only child, Frances was born in 1943. After World War II, they lived in San Antonio for more than 50 years. Tommy continued a military career until retirement when he joined the U.S. Postal Service. Annie began a successful real estate career with the Walker J. Barnebey Company in the 1950's until she retired in the early 1970's. During those years, she was a consummate homemaker, gardener, long time member of the San Pedro Church of Christ, caregiver to her mother who lived to be 100 and member of the San Antonio Alpha Xi Delta Mother's Club.
After nearly 56 years of marriage, Arthur passed away in 1998. In 2002, Annie moved to Colorado Springs, CO to be near her daughter. While in Colorado Springs, she has lived in a variety of retirement communities making many friends along the way. She was a member of the Eastside Church of Christ and participated in a number of their activities.
Annie was preceded in death by not only her parents but all of her siblings—Lee Beddingfield, Margaret Ware, Olin (Ted) Everett, John Irby Everett, Francis Everett, and Pat White. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Fran and Art Dudenhoeffer as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and their children.
