Anthony "Tony" Morton, age 75, passed away on August 27, 2017, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born October 22, 1941 in San Saba, Texas, to parents Cleo and Mary Belle Morton. Anthony was extremely athletic, in high school he became the State Pole Vault Champion. After leaving high school, he enlisted in the US Marine Corp. While in the US Marine Corp he was a member of the Golden Gloves. Anthony then attended Texas Wesleyan University earning a Bachelors of Business Administration degree. During his life he was a member of the Mason and Shriners organizations, riding in the Motor Corp. for the Shriners while living in East Texas.
Upon moving to San Antonio in 1991, he became friends with all of the neighbors, one neighbor said, "Tony would do anything for you. Even animals would look for the man in the chair, in the garage, he was thought of as the Dr. Doolittle in the neighborhood. He was so proud of his kids and grandchildren. He loved his family more than anything and has repeatedly told me he is a happy man and has lead a wonderful, complete life."
He also was a faithful and loving husband to his wife and best friend, Donna, of 49 years. Tony was a very compassionate man, willing to give the "shirt off of his back" and a very proud "PAPA" to his 5 grandchildren.
Tony was such a handy man being able to build anything from a Root Beer maker for his grandson, furniture, fences, etc. If he did not know how to make something he would research it, make it, and fine tune the latest creation to be the best! He never did anything halfway or cut corners! He was great a carpenter, who was honest, trustworthy, simple, kind, intelligent, and funny, "A Class Act!"
He was preceded in death by his parents. Tony is survived by his wife, Donna Morton; daughters, Meredith Morton Thompson and Mindy Morton- Winchester; grandchildren, Savannah Winchester, William Winchester, Luke Thompson, Carson Winchester and Summer Winchester; cousins, Nancy Wilson Toombs and Don Wilson.
