Antonio Trevino Acuna

Antonio T. Acuna, age 88, took his last breath and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 22, 2026, at his home in Cibolo, Texas. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, on September 4, 1937, to Aurelio Mora Acuna and Clara Trevino.

He spent his entire life in San Antonio, other than his time in the Air Force and his family work trips to Michigan during his teenage years. He enlisted in the Air Force at age 17 and served four years. Upon completion of his military service, he joined his father and other siblings at the family business known as AMA Enterprise. His father started the business, and the children continued to run it. He was self-taught to perform any activity in the business, from mechanic work, paint and body work, welding work, truck and trailer repair, and other job duties. He also served as the President of AMA for a period during his career.

He leaves behind a legacy his family will carry forward: He taught his family the importance of showing up for work, performing at the best of your ability, and completing that work with immense pride. Additionally, it was important that his children understood that it was necessary to help others in need, whether that was cutting an elderly neighbor’s lawn or traveling to Gramma’s house to trim the trees. He also would emphasize the importance of providing for your family with your spouse as a priority, especially his spouse, whom he deeply loved.

He enjoyed taking trips to Louisiana and Las Vegas where he and his wife would hit the slot machines. He enjoyed listening to country music and watching old western movies. He also enjoyed gardening and helping his wife with all the hundreds of plants they cared for, including selling them on the weekends at Mission Drive In under the name “Happy Plants”. Lastly, he loved to spoil his grandchildren. He could never tell them no and would always sing and play with them for hours at a time.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 58 years, Yolanda Gans Rendon Acuna, his children from oldest to youngest (spouse): Johnny R Ortega (Mary), Robert R Ortega (Corina), Rudy R Ortega (Joann), Shirly R Celaya (Armando), Andy R Ortega, Antonio R Acuna Jr. (Maria), Richard R Acuna (Samantha), Theodore R Acuna, & Michele M Badtke (Duke). He had 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Willie T. Acuna, Aurelio Jr. Acuna, Gloria Gonzalez, and Patsy Martinez.

His Father and Mother, Aurelio Mora Acuna and Clara Trevino Acuna. His brothers Johnny T Acuna, Henry T Acuna, Ernest T Acuna, and his sister, Viola T Acuna.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 9th, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home (1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218) from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Prayer service & eulogy begin at 6:00 pm.
