Antonio proudly served his country during the Viet Nam war and honorably retired from the US Air Force. He then took on the challenge of working with the US Border Patrol for several years until his retirement.
Antonio had a passion and loved the game of baseball ~ he played for the USAF team during his time in the service and in his 20's, he tried out to play with the San Antonio Missions, he did not make the cut, but his love for the game never wavered. Watching his favorite team, the Texas Rangers, was always at the top of our list at home.
Our father and mother were dedicated to family and home; he always had a sense of humor and shared their kindness with all of those lives they touched.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alberto and Adelfina Barrientos. Our dad and our mother, Maria Barrientos, will now be forever together. They shared a wonderful life and were married for 57 years before her passing last year.
He is survived by their children: Wilma "Wil" Horwitz; Antonio Barrientos, Jr. (Cathie); Melinda "Millie" Andrew; grandchildren: Antonio Barrientos III (Tiah), Capt. Eric Horwitz (Amanda), Marissa Reimherr (Anthony), Sarah Horwitz and Austin Horwitz; great grandchildren: Samantha Barrientos, Charlotte Davis, Aiden Horwitz and Antonio Barrientos IV; and three sisters.
He was greatly loved and we find solace in our hearts knowing he is at peace with our mother.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 7th from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Porter Loring on McCullough.
