With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, SFC Antonio Galvez, Jr., Ret., U.S. Army. Born in San Benito, Texas on March 13, 1941, Antonio was called home to be with the Lord on June 23, 2025, at the age of 84.
A proud Army veteran, Antonio served his country with honor and dedication. But beyond the uniform, he was a man of deep love, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family. Though at times stubborn, his heart was always in the right place—full of kindness, generosity, and a sincere desire to help others.
Antonio was a family man through and through. His love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew no bounds. He was always present—whether sharing a laugh, offering advice, or simply sitting beside them during a home-cooked meal, his favorite kind. His eyes would light up with pride at every milestone, every hug, every moment.
Since the passing of his beloved wife, Sylvia G. Galvez, Antonio carried her memory with him every day. Their bond was unbreakable, even in death.
He is preceded in eternal rest by Sylvia, his cherished wife; his brother, Jose Galvez; and his sister, Alicia Guetzow. He leaves behind a loving legacy in his children: Michael Anthony (Carleen) Galvez, Rosalinda Martinez, and Louis R. (Jeanine) Galvez; his treasured grandchildren: Michael (Susan) Galvez, Priscilla Galvez, and Eloy Martinez; and his adoring great-grandchildren: Alejandro Galvez, Miguel Galvez, Xavier Galvez, and Alicianna Garcia.
Family and friends are invited to honor Antonio’s life during visitation on Sunday, July 13, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino, 226 Cupples Rd., San Antonio, TX 78237, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m.
A funeral procession will depart the funeral home on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection of The Lord Catholic Church, 7990 West Military Dr., San Antonio, TX 78227. Interment will take place at San Jose Burial Park, 8235 Mission Rd., San Antonio, TX.
Antonio’s life was a gift to us all. His memory will live on in the laughter of his grandchildren, the traditions passed down through generations, and in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
