I had Mrs. Groos for English at SMH and she was a wonderful person and teacher. I always loved her scottie dogs.

I'll treasure our friendship and the many years we worked together at Saint Mary's Hall.

Mrs. Groos was an inspirational teacher to me, a student at Saint Mary's Hall, Class of 1982.  She made literature come alive.  English class was exciting!  Mrs. Groos was also a model for me when I myself became a teacher later on, and I now appreciate so much more all the time she spent coaching every student.  She trained us to have the grit and persistence we would need in college, and beyond.  She influenced the lives of many young women, pushing us to be better than all expectations.  I am forever thankful for April Groos, and her family are in my prayers.

My condolences to the family. I had the privilege of being one of her students. She was without a doubt one of the best teachers I ever had. I’ve thought about her often over the years. May your happy memories sustain you through this difficult time.

You couldn't say, "That is so gross around Mrs. Groos!" I am one of those adolescents she helped navigate through the "Hall" and beyond. She was more than an advisor and teacher. I left SMH a stronger person because of Mrs. Groos. Today, I raise a TAB in your honor. "Mrs. Groos, thank YOU and godspeed." Rest in peace.

I know I’m not along when I say that Mrs Groos made me not only a much better writer, but also a better, more confident person. I’ve always felt so lucky to have had her in my life in such formative years. May her memory bless you always. Her legacy will not soon be forgotten.

I was one of those students into whom Mrs. Groos poured herself, her love of literature, and her humor. I will forever be grateful to her for affirming my love of the written word, and for pushing me always to write better, say it well, don't compromise!! Thank you to her family for letting her share so much of herself with us. She was much loved.

April was such a joy to know and be around.  I will miss her dearly.  My deepest condolences to all her family.

Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so!

Mrs. Gross taught me in high school almost 30 years ago. I’m sad to hear of her passing, but have no doubt how many countless young people she inspired because I was one of them. I’m so grateful for that opportunity. Sending my condolences to her loved ones.

Her sense of humor, her tenacity with adolescent angst, her love for learning. All incredibly infectious and what laid the groundwork for my professional path. Senior year I had Herman Melville as my senior thesis. He might have the best quote for today. 
“It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation”

She was one in a million.
