It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of April Paz Maldonado, who left us suddenly on November 26, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 42. April was a vibrant and beautiful mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend, artist, and community servant. She was born on February 22, 1982, to Viviano Yanas Jr. and Rose Marie Aguilar.
April graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, a testament to her dedication and passion for helping others. Over the years, she not only built a career but also created a legacy as an artist and painter, sharing her creative talents with those around her. She was a proud member of the San Antonio Bills Backers and embraced the sense of community with warmth and enthusiasm.
April's love for her family knew no bounds. She was a doting mother to her children—Nathan, Autumn, Miranda, and Jason Trent—and cherished every moment spent with them. Her love extended beyond her immediate family, as she was a devoted aunt, showering her nieces and nephews with affection and care. April was always there for her loved ones, offering support, kindness, and a shoulder to lean on.
She is survived by her loving husband of 18 years, Jason Maldonado; her children, Nathan, Autumn, Miranda, and Jason Trent “J.T.” Maldonado; her mother, Rose Marie Aguilar; her father, Viviano Yanas; her sister, Roxanne Marines (Jorge); her in-laws, Frank and Tillie Maldonado; as well as several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
April will be remembered for her infectious smile, her unwavering devotion to her family, and her beautiful soul. She was a light in the lives of everyone who knew her, and her legacy of love, service, and artistry will live on forever.
In this difficult time, her family finds comfort in knowing that April’s spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have crossed her path. She was, and always will be, deeply loved.
April’s love, laughter, and creativity will be greatly missed, but her impact on those who loved her will never fade.
