On May 7th my grandfather went home to be with the Lord. Today we buried him at Fort Sam Houston as he was a WWII Vet. My heart hurts knowing his time on earth with us is over. I mourn for my “Popo” as he was affectionally known to us grandkids. But my memories of him live on forever, from him teaching me how to fish, taking me on chicken nugget runs to McDonalds, or simply getting to stay up late with him to watch the news and boxing. My Popo was a father figure to me when I did not have one. He was always supportive of anything I did even as I grew older and neglected spending time with him. And every time I saw him, he would always remind me of the time I got lost in a store and once they found me and we were headed home he said “I’m going to pull over and tell the policeman what you did “and I said “what are you crazy or something”. God, I wish I had that time back but alas your time on earth ran out. But I know you are up in heaven getting to do what you loved like going fishing or listening to your music while drinking a cold Miller Lite. I love you Popo you were the best grandfather a kid could have wished for. Now rest and be with the Lord, we will take care of grandma for you, your precious Stella.

I will always have nothing but happy memories of Popo. Weekend barbarcoa mornings  and poker nights with barbque  listening to KCOR and knowing he knew only the very end of every word of the songs they played. His love for his doggies over the years and his smell when he used to smoke and armor all his Torino.  Popo’s wide opened mouth laugh but no sound would escape- true happy times is what I will cherish and hold until we meet again. 

	My dad was my rock. He was always a man of his word and someone that I would say I looked up to. I always said that if I could be half the man my dad was to me then, I would achieved greatness. The greatest lesson I learned from him growing up, was to always have respect for your family. He instilled in me the importance to always have love for your wife and to always have love for your children. It was a lesson that is very near and dear to my heart and is a lesson I have passed on to my family. 
	There was nothing that I could have ever wished for that my Dad didn’t make happen. My father always delivered. One of my fondest memory of him was when we would visit his parents in Falfurrias and just before we left, he would reach for his wallet and give them all the money he had leaving himself short. I know family was always very important to my father and family will always be important to me. I love you Dad.

My Dad was the first love of my life. He was always loving and appreciative of anything you did for him. He had several friends and enjoyed having people over to play cards in our home. We enjoyed going to the coast, fishing and camping out. He loved to laugh and have a good time. He and my Mom formed several lasting friendships through the years. Several,  have preceded him in death. He retired early at the age of 55 and was able to enjoy his retirement. My Dad had a saying, Bueno, Barato, y Bonito. He has earned his place in Heaven. God bless him and May He Rest In Peace. All my love , Ana
