Aristea (Iris) Martinez Guardia, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was called home by the Lord on Sunday, March 24, 2013, at the age of 92. She was born on September 3, 1920 to Atilano and Esther (Criado) Martinez in Laredo, TX. She attended Sydney Lanier High School and worked in civil service at Kelly Air Force Base for over 25 years. Iris was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Diaz Guardia. She is survived by her loving daughters, Gloria Alexander and husband Gary, Linda Jackson and husband Stephen, and Alice Oldmixon and husband Russell; her grandchildren, Christopher and Daniel Jackson, Bill and Michael Rodney, and Jason Hoeninghaus; great-grandchildren, Lea Jade Jackson and Priya Leilani Valdespino Rodney; and her sister, Nell Flores.
Visitation will be held from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Haven for Hope.
