

He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on December 4, 1964. He attended Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, TX. He was very proud of being part of the mighty Carroll Tiger football and baseball teams. Mando's passion for sports helped him earn scholarships. He decided to play baseball at Blinn Junior College and St. Mary's University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in accounting.
Before graduation, Mando was hired by USAA where he remained for 27 years. As a dedicated employee, he established himself initially in the claims area and worked in various departments including accounting and human resources.
Mando was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed coaching his kid's football and baseball teams. He was one of the founders for The San Antonio Wolverines Pop Warner Organization, and the San Antonio Select Baseball League. He continued to coach until all his children attended High School. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends and family on weekends, and loved working on home projects. He was an outgoing, friendly, intelligent, and overall incredible person.
He is survived by his wife, Yolanda of 27 years, and his children, Alexander, Kathryn, and Marc Pena. Also surviving are his father, Rafael G. Pena and his mother, Norma Purinton. He has one brother, Ralph Pena, and sister, Sandra Cerda.
