

The son of Felix Garcia and Santos Leyva was born and raised in San Antonio. Arthur attended Brackenridge High School and graduated in 1964. He graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in electrical engineering in 1968 and an MBA from Stanford University in 1973. He married the love of his life, Maria Cristina Villarreal, on July 13, 1968.
Arthur began a 33-year career with the United States Civil Service in 1968, working at military bases across San Antonio, including Kelly AFB, Lackland AFB, Randolph AFB, Brooks AFB and Fort Sam Houston. Arthur also taught business classes in the Alamo College district for many years. He spent a year at Nellis AFB and taught in Las Vegas.
Later in life, he worked as an inspector for the San Antonio Housing Authority. He was a devoted husband and family man with a good heart, kind soul and soft spot for his grandchildren. He understood and promoted the value of education, and of doing things yourself. He was a builder and a fixer.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Maria Cristina Garcia; his brother Victor, and sisters Irene, Anna and Norma; his four children, Arthur Jr., Alexandra, Maritza and Miguel; his six grandchildren, Evan, Julia, Ava, Jakob, Daniel and Elise; and grandniece Michelle.
The family will receive loved ones at a visitation from 5-7 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Porter Loring Mortuary, 2102 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX.
Funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, July 15 at 10 a.m. at Saint Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1602 Thousand Oaks Dr.
Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches.
