Colonel Arthur (Art) William Noll (Ret. - US Army) was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 22, 1930 to Arthur Gordon and Dorothea Virginia Noll. He passed away peacefully in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 25, 2018 with his loving wife, Linda, and family by his side. He was 88 years old.

His family moved to Boerne, Texas when he was a 5th grader in 1939. The Hill Country and Boerne area was a wonderful place for his parents, Arthur Gordon and Dorothea Virginia Noll, to raise a family. Boerne gave him the opportunity to appreciate the outdoors where he and his brother, Courtney, developed a passion for hunting and fishing. He was an avid outdoorsman throughout his life. Art was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, quarterback for the Boerne High School football team and a member of the agriculture department for Boerne High School.

Art graduated from Boerne High School in May 1947. He attended and graduated from Texas A & M University in June 1951 with a degree in agriculture. He also was a member of the Corp of Cadets and became Company Commander of Company A Infantry - Fall 1950. He received his commission as a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army. In 1952, he was called to duty in the Korean War and proudly served his country. Upon his return from Korea in 1953, Art, his wife Emily, and son, Wayne, moved to the 711 Ranch just north of Boerne as an assistant manager. There he taught his two sons, Arthur Wayne Noll and Russell Thomas Noll, the virtues of hard work and serving others, the love of the outdoors and raising livestock in the 4-H Club. During his time in the Boerne area, he was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves, Texas A & M Alumni Association, Secretary of the Kendall County Fair Association, St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Junior Livestock Association. He spent many hours helping young people prepare their livestock for competitions.

In 1968 he was called into active duty for the Vietnam War as a senior advisor. He spent time in Ft. Polk, Louisiana and Ft.Bragg, N.C training for his tour to Vietnam. During his service in Vietnam he earned the Silver Star, Bronze Star with V (Valor) and the Purple Heart. He returned to the United States in August of 1970 and was stationed in Oklahoma City where he was an advisor to the 95th MTC in Oklahoma City. Noll received his promotion to Lt. Colonel and received further training at the Command and General Staff College in Ft. Levinworth, KS. He was promoted to full Colonel and Deputy Commander of the 95th MTC in Oklahoma City where he retired from the military in 1983.

Art also had a successful business career. He received his MBA from Oklahoma City University where he worked as Sr. Vice President, Marketing, at May Avenue Bank and Trust. He also earned his Masters in Banking from SMU. In 1988 he became General Manager for Hughes Aviation FBO in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he continued his passion for flying. He had over 4,000 hours of flying time and earned his commercial pilot license and IFR certifications. He spent many hours flying with his family especially his grandson, Arthur William Noll II.
