

Arthur Wright Richie, Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday May 26, 2008 at the age of 86 years. He was born to the union of Arthur Richie, Sr. and Martha Taschinger May 28, 1921 in San Antonio, TX.
He graduated from Brackenridge High School class of 1939 and attended Port Arthur Radio and Business College. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force in the 12th Air Depot Group in Australia and Leyte Island Philippines as an aircraft radio repair technician and was honorably discharged December 1945. After his discharge from the Air Force, he was employed at Kelly AFB as a system computer programmer and retired after 40 years service.
As a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church, he served on the Boards of Youth, Deacons, Elders and Trustees. In his dedication to the youth of St. John's, he coached youth softball and served Boy Scout Troop 48 for many years. He was a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow scout honor campers. He received "The Lamb Award" for distinguished service from the National Lutheran Committee on Scouting.
He also enjoyed spending time tending to his cows at the family ranch near Floresville.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers-in-law Herman Boehme and Clarence Bippert.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Marjorie Hasse Richie; sons Brad and Wayne; sisters Lucille Boehme and Evelyn Bippert; numerous nieces and nephews; family and friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the care given by Mystic Park Healthcare and Christus Santa Rosa Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church. Interment in Mission Burial Park South.
