Artist Daniel Mark Geisler, affectionately known as Mister Danny Geisler by his friends and admirers, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at age 51 at his mother's San Antonio home.
Born April 19, 1955, Geisler was a catalyst for the local arts scene who helped shape a generation of artists through his stage design at Jump-Start Performance Co., his innovative poster designs for events such as the King William Fair, and his visionary, confrontational use of found objects and multimedia.
Exhibits in the past year alone included a one-man show at REM Gallery, a group show he curated and anchored at UTSA Satellite Space, a two-man show with Franco Mondini-Ruiz at the UTSA Downtown Gallery, and the "Dumpster Flowers" at Blue Star Contemporary Art Center, which received a Best of Contemporary Art Month award.
He is survived by his mother, Ann Geisler; his brother, Robert Michael Geisler; his daughter, Lilla Bernal; son-in-law, Juan Carlos Bernal; and two grandchildren, Iris and Carlos Bernal.
The family would like to express special gratitude to the pallbearers, Danny's dear friends Mike Casey, Ray Chavez, Gene Dawson, Jr., Ronald Guyer, Scott Lifshutz, and Dr. Bart Nichols.
