It is with great sadness that the family of Arturo Elias announces the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He entered into eternal rest on October 22, 2020 at the age of 63 in his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Arturo, was born in El Paso, Texas in 1957 and joined the United States Air Force, serving in numerous countries. After his service, he began work with civil service, enlisted in the Air Force Reserves, and moved to San Antonio making it his home. He worked at Kelly AFB for many years in the 433rd AirLift Wing as a mechanic on C-5 cargo planes. He later moved to the Department of Defense Management Contracting Agency where he served as a Quality Specialist overseeing multi-million government contracts both state-side and in Europe. He served in Operation Desert Shield/Storm & Operation Enduring Freedom. After 35 years of service, he retired from Civil Service and Air Force Reserves in San Antonio, Texas in 2017.
In his spare time, Arturo enjoyed restoring classic cars, his most recent accomplishment was his ‘55 Chevy Sedan Delivery. He loved fishing and playing with his granddaughter Kamilah Grace. Arturo was a 4th Degree Knight in the St. Rodrigo Aguilar Alemán Assembly 3795 and was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Rose of Lima conference.
Arturo was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends, but by all those fortunate enough to have known him.
Arturo was preceded in death by his parents: Amalia and Miguel, and brothers Ruben and Miguel Jr. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 38 years: Mercedes Flores Elias; 3 children Tomas Miguel Elias (Maria Cadena), Mercedes Olivia Elias, and Cory Rene Contreras (Casarah); a granddaughter who was his pride and joy, Kamilah Grace; brothers Roberto, Ricardo, Raymundo, Juan; sisters Luz, Amalia and Rita along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will eternally treasure their memories of Archie.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 4,2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238. Due to Covid, only 50 attendees at a time. The family asks that you please wear a mask to all functions and practice the required six feet distance.
The Rosary, Mass, and Internment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery will be held at a later time.
