Audrey Jacklyn Bradley, age 77, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on August 9, 1946, to parents, John W. Thompson and Blanche Hinds. Audrey attended school in San Antonio from elementary through high school, graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1965.
Audrey and George met at Jefferson High School, and they married on July 2, 1966, after George had entered active service in the U.S. Navy in the preceding April. They were together at every duty station, but for Vietnam, which included the Philippines; Spain (twice); Fort George G. Meade, MD; Cheltenham, England; Norfolk, VA; and Pearl Harbor, HI. Daughter Tina was born in the Philippines, and son Jonathan, in Spain. After retirement from military service in 1988, George and Audrey relocated to Severna Park, MD, while he worked for Hughes Aircraft Company as a defense contractor. George entered ministry as a United Methodist Local Pastor in 1992 in Severn, MD, and, due to Blanche (Hinds) Pierce’s deteriorating health, relocated with Audrey to Texas in 1995 to attend Seminary at SMU, and continued serving as an Elder in the United Methodist Church to today. Audrey followed George around the world, and George followed Audrey home. Audrey’s life was filled with unbounded love and a servant’s heart. She loved everyone, and everyone loved her. Audrey was a blessing to the day of her departure, and she continues to be so in the hearts of an international community of friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant unnamed younger brother. Audrey is survived by her husband, George A. Bradley; daughter, Tina Lyne Jackson; and son, Jonathan Lee Bradley (Kelly); grandchildren, Daniel M. Jackson, Timothy A. Jackson (Bethany), Justin M. Bradley, Shane M. Bradley, Layla M. Bradley; great-grandson, Avery A. Jackson; elder sister, Ramona Bissett; and many cousins.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Travis Park Church.
