Aurora Reyes Sandoval fought her battle with cancer and peacefully made her sunset journey to heaven on September 23rd 2021, surrounded by her children and loved ones. She was born on December 1st, 1936, in Whiteland, Texas to Refugio Reyes, Sr. and Juanita Perez. Aurora was widowed in 2007, when she lost her devoted husband Rafael. H. Sandoval of 47 years. Aurora affectionately known as Dora or “Tia Shorta” graduated high school early and began her career as a Surgical Technician in the early 1950’s here in San Antonio. She worked at Santa Rosa for some years, also at the old Robert B. Green and retired from the Bexar County Hospital system after 36 + years of service. She found joy spending time with her family, grandchildren and numerous brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces and nephews. She loved to tell stories from her past and always kept her audience captivated. Her laugh was infectious as was her smile, you could count on her “meteorology” weather skills: “It’s going to be cold tomorrow” and she always had a prayer for you. She was a devout Catholic and attended Padre Pio Church where she assisted with the Alter Society. She celebrated life, attended all the family gatherings, prided herself as the matriarch of her brothers and sisters, and gave the best gifts. She was an inspiration to many. She loved to shop and was the first to find “the best deal” and was considered a “true fashionista”- a women before her time with “Great Style and sense for Fashion”.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, and beloved husband Rafael, brothers: Santana, Guadalupe, Refugio (R), Abelardo (P), Alfredo, Arturo (M) sisters: Olivia, Consuelo, Ninfa (P) Aurora, Betty, Oralia (M)
