

Aurora Rodriguez Vega, a beacon of selfless love and thoughtfulness, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 6, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on October 12, 1934, in Alice, Texas to Aurora and Roman Rodriguez. Aurora lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her community, and the simple joys that brought so much light to those around her.
Aurora was a cherished wife to Jesus G. Vega, a loving mother to Nora Linda Vega, Jessie Vega Jr. (with his wife Roseanne), Elda Ester Sampson (with her husband Mark), Joel Vega and sister to Roman Rodriguez, Jr. (Olga, wife). She was also an adoring grandmother to Roger Valdez Jr, Adrianna Swindle (with her husband Brannon), Zachary Vega, Cory Vega, Ryan Sampson, Benjamin Sampson, Victor Vega, Paul Vega and great grandchildren Sabrina Saucedo, Isaac Swindle, Chloe Swindle. Her nurturing spirit extended to her multiple nieces and nephews. Aurora's family was the cornerstone of her life.
A proud alumna of Alice High School where she played basketball and softball, Aurora carried the spirit of her alma mater in her heart throughout her life. She was a fervent supporter of her San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys, as well as her grandsons’ college teams.
As President of the VFW Women's Auxiliary at the Veterans of Foreign Wars 4700 for two years, she led with dignity and dedication. Her status as a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and VFW underscored her deep respect and support for those who served. Aurora's volunteer work with veteran groups was one that she fulfilled with honor and enthusiasm. Her selfless nature shone through her volunteer work, where she touched the lives of many with her thoughtful deeds and caring demeanor.
Watching her grandchildren grow and succeed brought her immense joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Aurora's knack for decorating during the holidays transformed her home into a warm and welcoming haven that reflected her love for these special times. Those who knew Aurora would describe her as a loving, selfless, and thoughtful woman. May she rest in peace, knowing that her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
