She is survived by her husband, Mario; their children, Tammy (Andre), Kimberly (Ryan), and Brandon; grandchildren Hunter and Scout; parents, David and June Dahlberg; sisters, Carol Pilgrim and Alice Powell, along with numerous extended family and friends.
Born August 13, 1948, Ava moved from Brady, TX to San Antonio to begin a teaching career. She taught a total of 24 years. For sixteen of those years, she was a third grade teacher at Poteet Elementary. She was loved and respected by her students and staff.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 9th beginning at 6:00 PM at Porter Loring on McCullough with recitation of the Rosary in the chapel at 7:00 PM.
On Thursday, September 10th, a procession will depart Porter Loring chapel at 9:30 AM for the funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 600 Oblate followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
