Ba was born in Vietnam in 1930. He served in the South Vietnam Air Force at Tan Son Nhut AFB for 22 years, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He and his wife, No Thi Nguyen, lived and raised their children in Vietnam until 1975 when the family immigrated to the United States and settled in Texas. Having received a certificate of training issued by the U.S. Department of the Air Force in 1961, Ba was able to work as an aircraft engine mechanic for Aero Accessories in San Antonio for another 22 years, retiring in 1997. After his retirement, Ba spent most of his days in his garden and was more than happy to share his home-grown herbs, fruits, and vegetables with his friends and neighbors. He enjoyed watching a good Spurs game in the evenings and eating a big bowl of pho on the weekends. What he loved most was spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great “grandbabies”.
Ba is preceded in death by his wife, No Thi Nguyen Tran; his son, Quyen Van Tran; and daughter, Ha Thi Thu Le.
