Barbara Jean Ackermann

Barbara was born in San Antonio to David and Evelynn Ackermann on August 25, 1951. She attended MacArthur High School and studied accounting at San Antonio College (SAC). Barbara worked several years for Goodwill and worked for a short time at Walmart as a Greeter. Barbara loved sharing her time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her sister Nell Hutzler-Rivera, her beloved niece and caregiver Debra Barrientos, along with nephews Melvin Hutzler Jr., Justin Hutzler, Julius Hutzler and Jurgen Hutzler.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents David and Evelynn Ackermann.

The Viewing will be on Monday, October 6th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home located at 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, Texas. Funeral service will be 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with Melvin Hutzler Jr. officiating. Her burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements are made by Sunset Funeral Home. A reception will be held after the services at Northern Oaks Church of Christ located at 17435 Redland Rd. San Antonio, Texas.

The family of Barbara wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all who have cared for her throughout her life. Especially Debra Barrientos and her honorary nephew, James Dean Lehy who provided loving care for over 33 years. Also, a special thanks to Compassus US Hospice Care, Vitas Hospice Healthcare, Disability Services of the South West, Katie Wettstein, Christi Messer, Lily Gonzales, Angie Diaz and Jessica Lang for their loving care.
