Barbara Allen Black of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the age of 85. She was born on January 13, 1941, in Los Angeles, California then moved to and grew up in San Antonio, Texas.
Barbara was a dedicated mother who raised her daughters as a single parent, until she met Allan Black. She was owner of the Pink Poodle Pet Grooming in San Antonio, Texas for about 20 years. She started it from nothing in her backyard and grew the business into the biggest grooming salon in the city. Her biggest passion was horses. She was owner of Turkey Creek Stables, San Antonio, Texas for 50 years. She taught thousands of kids to ride and passed on her love for horses, giving many kids a place to belong and feel good about themselves. Her husband, Allan always said, “Barbara never disappointed me a single day in all 52 years of our marriage.”
Through her years she was actively involved in San Antonio Miniature Society. She was artistic and creative in many art forms including miniature modeling including museum quality miniature sailing ships, crystal decorated eggs, and Dresden porcelain dolls.
She is preceded in death by her father Allen S. Browne Jr. and her mother Evelyn Fuller and stepfather Holman Fuller. She is survived by her husband Allan Black, her brother David Browne, and her daughters Linda Aguilar and Cathy Sleeper. She is also survived by her stepchildren, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
