Barbara was born on March 10, 1945, in Raleigh, N.C. to Rudolph and Dorothy (Floyd) Inman. She was the oldest of three children and was a very caring sister, aunt and cousin to many. She especially enjoyed her summers in Connecticut with family, dancing and working at the resort. Upon graduation from high school, she postponed her college career to be with her childhood sweetheart, Richard Rochelle Carroll (“Ro” or “Dick”) who had joined the United States Air Force. The two traveled the country until moving to San Antonio, TX in 1981, where they resided until their passings.
Already a mother of two, Barbara received her Bachelor of Arts in 1976 from Chapman College in Orange, CA. She went on to have successful careers in education and in the newspaper industry. Upon the birth of her first grandchild, she retired so she could spend more time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Dick Carroll, her brother, Rudolph (“Rudy”) Inman, sister, Claudia Inman Glezen, and her cousin, Martha Delohery Regan. She is survived by her daughter, Tracy (Todd) and her son, Marc (Jennifer); grandchildren: Payton, Kyle, Hannah, Emory and Will.
Affectionally known as “Bebe,” she will always be remembered for her undeniable love and pride for her grandchildren, her contagious laugh, and her tenacity for crosswords and literature.
Barbara will be interred with her beloved husband at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX.
