1949. While in college she met lifelong friends and was an active member of Kappa Kappa
Gamma Sorority. She retired in 1991 after 25 years and had a successful career in social work for Harris County Family Court Services. Following retirement she moved to San Antonio, Texas and filled her life giving unconditional love and time to her three grandchildren. Grammy was a woman of strong faith and was an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in San Antonio. She bestowed upon her family her unshakable love of the Lord and used her spiritual gifts everyday of her life. In Grammy's own words, "I am the luckiest and happiest Grammy in San Antonio." Survivors: children, Ralph Thompson and wife, Carol, Fulton, TX, Jeff Thompson, Beth Mangum and husband, Rick, all of San Antonio; 3 grandchildren, Christine, Kelsey, Matthew Mangum, all of San Antonio; aunt, Elizabeth Pond and husband, Arthur, Richmond, VA.
