Barbara Lanita Gray

Barbara Lanita Gray passed away in Austin, TX at the age of 84 after a tough battle against Alzheimer’s. Born on December 14, 1935 in Magnolia, AR to Henry and Estelle Whitley, she is preceded in death by her ex-husband: George W. Gray, Jr and daughter: Lydia. She is survived by her children: Laurence Gray, Lesley Gray, Elizabeth Gray; granddaughter: Madalyn Mendoza; and siblings: Bryon Whitley, Paul Whitley, and Paulette Wilson. Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed dearly. During her lifetime, she received her Bachelors in Music Education from the University of North Texas. She then moved to Chicago, IL in 1957 and met George and married in 1958 and had four wonderful children. The family would like to thank Monte Siesta Nursing Home for their love and care shown to mom for the past seven years. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 1pm at Sunset Memorial Park.
