Barbara McHaney

Barbara McHaney, born November 28, 1938, passed away on May 5, 2018 at the age of 79. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray McHaney and her parents, Charles and Marguerite (nee Rossi) Brown. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Janie Pizzini (Michael) and Linda Baker (Daniel); son Larry McHaney (Denise); sisters, Jo Knox and Diane Gadell; grandchildren, Julie Tolleson, Nick Baker, Shawna Griffith, Andria Woody, Kaitlyn Pizzini, Shannon Hill, Jacquelyn Pizzini, Lauren Childers, Peter McHaney, Brian McHaney and Grant McHaney, their spouses, their children and her many friends. Barbara worked many different jobs, but her longest and most meaningful work was as a secretary at her second home, First Baptist Church. After the heartbreaking passing of her husband, Barbara entered a season of travel and adventure encouraged and invited by her beloved friends and family. Barbara also loved the Jemez Ministry in New Mexico. Each summer, for the past eighteen years, she traveled there with her church family to hold a Vacation Bible School for the children of the Jemez Pueblo, teaching them about the love and provision of Jesus. Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, 515 McCullough Ave., San Antonio, TX 78215 at 1 pm, on Thursday, May 10, 2018, with Dr. Don Guthrie officiating.
